Q1. Where can I find the Application details, assessment criteria and example?

Q2. Will the KPI form be available downloaded via HKIBIM website?

Ans: Yes, you can download from the submission kit, or download here.

Q3. What information needs to be submitted before the deadline?

Ans: There are three/four materials need to be submitted. First, an executive summary of the automation developed for BIM process and its breakthrough (a maximum of 5 pages in A3 size). Second, a Video Clip to demonstrate the end-to-end automation process (no duration limitation). Third, a Completed Quantitative and Qualitative KPIs Form which indicated the comparison between the traditional workflow and the workflow with automation (Download the KPIs Form). Besides, the application Fee in the sum of HK$2,000 (Applicable to Corporate Applicants only).

Q4. For the individual application, what is the differences between individual and the corporation? What is the maximum number of people in a group?

Ans: If the product is on market / for commercial sales, it is only eligible in the corporation category. No limitation of group size but only the 1st – 4th applicant names will be shown on the certificate / trophy.

Q5. My company is in China, can I send the cross cheque with other submission materials together?

Ans: Yes, but you need to submit the online application form first and upload the required submission materials to the online submission system on or before 5:00 p.m. (HKT Time) on 17 February. We strongly recommend registering as soon as possible as you will get a LinkedIn Free Month Offer.

Q6. Can we integrate all 3 categories together in one solution? Does it qualify?

Ans: If your solution consists in all categories, we suggest you to choose the largest category, which is the Software Applications (Standalone/SaaS).

Q7. Our application is only related to I.o.T and computer vision for site work monitoring without touching any BIM process. Are we qualified to be the applicants for this competition?

Ans: We may consider non-BIM related application as long as the application has been adopted in AEC projects. Also, it should be justified with the potential integration with BIM processes which will bring benefits to the projects. For the BIM processes, you may take reference to CIC BIM Standards General Version 2.x.

Q8. We’ve developed a web platform which provides a digital twin for maintaining the sensor data and asset data for the facility management (FM) of a building project. Are we eligible to join this competition?

Ans: Obviously this case is related to an AEC project. Your team are eligible to join the competition. In your submission, please demonstrate how the web services in your application is able to benefit the entire workflow of your FM tasks.

Q9. We‘ve worked out a framework which is a set of ideas integrating the currently available technologies in the market like block chain, CDE and deep learning. This framework would develop a tool which would auto-verify the asset data of as-built BIM models. However, this framework has not been implemented. Are we qualified to be the applicants for this competition?

Ans: We only accept the applications which have been implemented in AEC projects or have completed the proof of concept (POC).

Q10. For the individual application, what is the differences between individual and the corporation? What is the maximum number of people in a group?

Ans: Company name won’t be shown / promoted throughout the competition for individual application. Company Name won’t be printed on the trophy under this category. No limitation of group size but only the 1st – 4th applicant names will be shown on the certificate / trophy.
