Membership Grades

Honorary Fellow (with Voting Right) - By Invitation only-
榮譽資深會員 (具會務投票權) [FHKIBIM (HON)]

The Institute may, under very exceptional conditions, admit a distinguished Architecture, Building, Engineering, Construction, and Surveying professional to be an Honorary Fellow. Such a person will be of particular eminence, will have obtained an international reputation in their field, possess some tangible recognition of eminences, such as a national honor or award, and in the opinion of the Board of Institute, have a significant contribution to the Institute or the profession and who using either their position, experience or eminence may be able to render assistance in promoting the objects of the Institute. Such Honorary Membership is entitled to voting rights in the business of the Institute.

The Board may recommend any person as an Honorary Fellow of the Institute and as granted by the Board from time to time.
 

Fellow Membership (with Voting Rights)
資深會員 (具會務投票權)  [FHKIBIM]
The Fellow is a senior Corporate Member who:

  • is at least 35 years of age, and
  • Have achieved positions of responsibility to which he/she has brought superior knowledge and practice in the Building Information Modeling discipline;
  • Have made a significant contribution to the work of Building Information Modeling and the Institute and as granted by the Board from time to time; and
  • Had a minimum of 8 years standing in the Institute with Professional Membership Class shall be elected as Fellows subject to the approval of the Board.

Fee: HK$1000 (annual).

 

Professional Membership (with Voting Rights)
專業會員 (具會務投票權) [MHKIBIM]

  • Degree or above in relation to Architecture, Building, Construction, Engineering, and Surveying, or as recognized by the Board from time to time; AND minimum 3 years of relevant post-graduation local practical experience in the management of BIM projects, counting before the submission of the application form;
  • Portfolio of the project(s) to be submitted;
  • Proof of BIM courses attended, including in-house training, short BIM courses, and degree courses; and
  • Passing an interview offered by the institute.

Fee: HK$600 (annual). Effective on 1 January 2023
 

Associate Membership
附屬會員 [AMHKIBIM]

  • Certificate or above in relation to BIM, Architecture, Building, Construction, Engineering, and Surveying which the course shall be organized / taught by a Professional member of HKIBIM (MHKIBIM) and recognized by the Board from time to time; AND minimum 2 years related local practical experience in BIM projects includes planning, designing, administrating and operating of BIM, counting before the submission of the application form;
  • Portfolio of the project(s) to be submitted;
  • Proof of BIM courses attended, including in-house training, short BIM courses; and
  • Passing an interview offered by the Institute.
  • Fee: HK$400 (annual). Effective on 1 January 2023

 

Student / Graduates Membership
學生會員/畢業生會員

  • Be at least 18 years of age;
  • Have obtained an accredited honors degree or an acceptable equivalent in a recognized Architecture, Building, Construction, Engineering, Surveying, or technological discipline or as recognized by the Institute from time to time;
  • Have obtained an accredited / recognized higher diploma, higher certificate, associate degree, or an acceptable equivalent in a recognized architectural, Engineering, Construction, or technological discipline or as recognized by the Institute from time to time;
  • Graduated within the last ten years.
  • Student member is a person undertaking or has completed an Architectural, Engineering, Construction, or technological discipline programme accredited / recognized by the Institute with interest in BIM; this may be a Degree or a Higher Diploma or a Higher Certificate.

Student Membership Fee: HK$100 (annual).
Graduates Membership Fee: HK$150 (annual). Effective on 1 January 2023

 

Membership Upgrade

Members who are looking for an upgrade to Associate / Professional Membership should apply the application again. the applicant should meet the Associate / Professional Membership Criteria with a minimum interval of 1 year after being granted the current membership.

Reinstatement of Membership

Members whose membership has lapsed through non-payment of dues and who now seek reinstatement to their previous class of membership are required to pay:

(a)

 

a Reinstatement Fee (non-refundable), including:
(i)    the current “Application Fee”, plus
(ii)   an overdue amount (equivalent to the current "Annual Subscription")
for the desired reinstatement class of membership;

and  

(b)

the current "Annual Subscription" applicable to the class of membership is to be re-instated 

(To be charged upon successful reinstatement).
